Jenn Hamrick Vander Woude is a social worker who is passionate about people and systems. Her drive is working to change small and large systems so all members of our communities have access to resources and a sense of belonging. Jenn is driven to put people first and to center the stories of those most affected by the challenge being addressed.

She is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) with a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of North Dakota and a Trauma Effective Leadership Certificate from the University of Minnesota. Her most recent practice experience was working to transform the criminal legal system in a local government setting.

Jenn has held a variety of positions in nonprofits, and has experience building and developing programs, managing volunteers, engaging communities, and restructuring organizations. She has previously worked with individuals returning to the community from incarceration in several programs including coordinating support groups for individuals with a history of sexual and violent crimes. In the past years Jenn has trained over 200 people across the state of Minnesota in Organization Trauma and how to make changes from a person in environment perspective. Jenn has a passion for building strong communities and healing trauma within organizations, and supporting social workers in the work they do.

Nonprofit Leadership

• Worked in several issue settings including disaster preparedness and response, disability services, jails and prisons, college access, and nonviolence education.

• Lead service delivery programs in prisons and in the community.

• Developed internship programs and built robust partnerships with local colleges and universities.

• Managed board relationships and activities as a board president and also as an executive director.

• Recruited, trained, and supported volunteers.

• Supervised staff, interns, and volunteers.

• Developed policies including, anti harassment, safety, and finance policy manual.

• Lead processes to refresh programs and entire organizations to better meet the needs of clients being served.

Local Government

• Worked in both state and county government to bring transformative changes to the criminal legal system.

• Managed programs including budgets, federal spending compliance.

• Recruited volunteers and paid community members to be an active role in program design and service delivery.

• Built and managed relationships with community leaders, and nonprofit organizations.

• Lead teams working on justice system transformation

• Developed Requests for Proposals (RFP), lead contracting processes, managed relationships with contractors.

• Partnered with departments across organizations including Human Resources, Compliance, Legal, Communications, Information Technology, and program delivery teams.
